Anglers delight at the wealth of fish in our lakes and rivers.
Chiemsee - whitefish, eel and carp-bream are sure to set anglers pulses racing with excitement. All you need in order to obtain a fishing permit is a valid state fishing license. This does not include the protected fisheries on the Chiemsee. Fishing permits for the Taubensee in Ruhpolding may be obtained from the Gasthof Forellenhof in Eisenärzt.
Fly-Fishing
Fishing area on the Urschlauer Ache – about 5 km long - belonging to the nearby hotel. Splendid stock of char, as well as rainbow and brook trout. Fishing on the Urschlauer Ache is reserved for guests of the Hotel Ortnerhof, located a little outside of Ruhpolding and close to the Rauschberg. Two biggish weirs, which feed water to mill streams, divide these waters into three sections. If it looks like several people are likely to be fishing, it’s a good idea to co-ordinate your plans the evening beforehand. Whichever section you fish, it will be good for a full day of fishing.
